Evercube — an Open Source, self-assmbly network file server kit.
We’re entering an anxious age for geeks, as computers get smaller, less expandable, and move to the cloud.
Storage, the first to shrink and vaporize up to servers, is something geeks are beginning to especially fetishize. Too often these days we find ourselves absent-mindedly browsing Storage Review and reading about NAS, RAID arrays, and Thunderbolt ports. The impact on pricing and supply for hard discs due to flooding in Thailand combined with iCloud hiccups has exacerbated this itch.
I, and surely others, have been waiting for an Evercube. I expect more open source hardware like this; sure, it’s fetishism, but it soothes the nerves by giving us control.
